The La Quebrada Cliff Divers are a group of professional high divers, based in Acapulco, Mexico. They offer daily performances open to the public, diving from heights upward of 125 feet into the crashing waves below.
Although cliff diving at La Quebrada had taken place for generations, it was not until 1934 that the La Quebrada Cliff Divers was formed. They have been a major attraction in Mexico ever since.
ABC’s Wide World of Sports popularized La Quebrada during the 1970s as one of the early extreme sports. I remember those broadcasts from my childhood and could not imagine that one day I would be lunching at the Hotel Mirador, watching those divers from the front row!
The cliffs at La Quebrada is a favorite locale for professional divers throughout the world.
